On Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Southwest Branch Patrol responded to a weapons complaint in the area of 101 Street and Whyte Avenue. Upon arrival, police located a male and a female with serious injuries.
EMS responded, treated and transported the 33-year-old female to hospital, where she remains in stable condition. The adult male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.
EPS Homicide Section has taken over the investigation and an autopsy has been scheduled for Monday Aug. 21, 2023.
Detectives are hopeful that security or dash camera footage from the area of 101 Street and Whyte Avenue may assist with their investigation. As a result, investigators are encouraging any businesses or residences in the area that captured security footage between the hours of 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, to contact police. Likewise, anyone driving in the area during this time with dash camera footage is also encouraged to contact the EPS by calling 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
