The investigation remains ongoing into a suspicious death that occurred at a residence in northwest Edmonton on Aug. 15, 2023.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on an 18-month-old female yesterday, Aug. 16, 2023, and further testing is required to determine the child’s cause and manner of death.
Homicide Section continues to maintain the investigation.
Background
At approximately noon on Tuesday Aug. 15, 2023, police responded to a residence in the area of 130 Avenue and 105 Street in relation to an 18-month-old female who was reportedly in medical distress. EMS responded and declared the child deceased at the residence. The circumstances around the child’s death appeared suspicious and the investigation was turned over to the EPS Homicide Section.
