The Edmonton Police Service is seeking information regarding a shooting that took place in downtown Edmonton in mid-May.

On Thursday, May 19, 2022, at approximately 12:07 a.m., Downtown Branch Patrol officers responded to a weapons complaint in the area of 101 Avenue and 104 Street. It was reported to police that two males exited a nearby business, and following a disagreement, one of the men shot the other and fled the scene.

EMS responded, treated and transported the 27-year-old injured male to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital.

The EPS Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) continues to investigate and noted that multiple bullets were located lodged in nearby condo buildings. Investigators have confirmed that the two men were not known to one another.

“This shooting took place not long after a hockey game that saw many Edmontonians partaking in post-game entertainment in the downtown core,” says Staff Sergeant Eric Stewart who oversees FIU within the EPS Drug & Gang Enforcement Section.

“The risk to citizens living in and visiting the area at the time was extremely high and we consider it fortunate that no other injuries were reported.”

Investigators continue to search for the suspect and are hopeful that anyone with information about this incident will contact the EPS at 780-423-4567or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250.
