At approximately 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, police were contacted by a local hospital following the death of a 21-year-old male. It was reported to police that the male had been located by hospital staff in medical distress at a transit stop in the university area and died in hospital shortly thereafter.
Following an autopsy completed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, the cause of death was pending, and investigators initially deemed the death of Ezekiel Bigstone, 21, as suspicious.Autopsy results have since confirmed that Bigstone died of medical conditions due to, or as a consequence of a gunshot wound and the manner of death was homicide. Investigations confirmed that Bigstone sustained the gunshot wound within an Edmonton residence between Sunday, June 27, 2021 and Friday, July 2, 2021.
Kody Kenneth Bock, 35, of Edmonton has since been arrested in relation to Bigstone’s death and is charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of an indictable offence and breach of firearms prohibition.
