Some Edmonton high school students are spending their spring break learning about what it takes to become a police officer.

EPS School Resource Officers (SROs) put together a comprehensive program for 30 students, each of whom has expressed an interest in exploring a career in policing. The training exposes the students to various areas of policing.

Media are invited to observe the students as they undergo an EPS fitness routine:

The Academy runs from Monday, March 30 – Wednesday, April 1. In addition to fitness training, EPS subject matter experts will have presented on Robbery, Forensics, Tactical, Traffic, Canine, Air 1, and Hostage Negotiations.

Constable Matthew LeBlanc, SRO, McNally High School, will be on-hand to explain the criteria for enrolment (it’s not easy to qualify for the Academy), and how the program was developed.
