At approximately 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 1, 2015, an Audi A4 was travelling westbound on Anthony Henday Drive, south of the bridge between 184 Street (Cameron Heights Drive overpass) and Terwillegar Drive. It was reported the vehicle lost control, crossed over to the eastbound lanes of Anthony Henday Drive and struck a light standard.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. One man was airlifted to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance and the second man was treated and transported to hospital by EMS. Both men are in their mid-twenties.
The EPS Major Collision Investigation Unit continues to investigate. Speed is believed to be a factor in the collision.
Anthony Henday Drive eastbound between 184 Street and Terwillegar Drive will be closed for the next several hours. Westbound traffic has been reduced to one lane. Motorists are asked to avoid the area at this time.
