The Edmonton Police Service is releasing a supplied composite sketch to help identify a suspect in an alleged assault and theft that occurred in downtown Edmonton in December 2014.

On Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, Edmonton Police Service Downtown Division officers responded to the report of an assault at approximately 1:15 p.m. in the area of 109 Street and 100 Avenue. A 30-year-old female was taking garbage to a dumpster behind an apartment building in the area when she allegedly encountered a male crouching inside the dumpster.

It was reported that after a short verbal altercation, the male jumped out of the dumpster, assaulted the female and stole her mobile phone. Police believe the male fled west from 109 Street on foot.

The female sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the assault and was treated and transported to hospital. Following the incident, she had a composite sketch of the suspect created and then provided the image to the Edmonton Police Service.

The suspect is described as an Aboriginal youth male (possibly 15 to 17-years-old), approximately 5’6” tall and 150 lbs. with medium length, dark hark and a thin moustache. He was wearing a plaid jacket at the time of the alleged assault.

Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information that may be able to identify the suspect to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm.
