At approximately 9:27 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, EPS Northeast Division Patrol officers responded to reports of an assault in the Griesbach area of north Edmonton. Upon arrival, police found a semi-conscious 17-year-old male lying in the parking lot behind the large condo complex on McCrae Avenue and Castle Downs Road. EMS treated and transported the male to hospital with unknown injuries, however, his condition has continued to deteriorate and he is currently in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Witnesses in the area reported that the male was allegedly assaulted by three males who fled the area in a car that was parked behind the adjacent strip mall at 153 Avenue and Castle Downs Road. The three suspects are described as Caucasian males believed to be in their 20s, having short hair, and wearing dark clothing. The car is described as a dark four-door sedan.
“The youth may have known his attackers, but because of the youth’s deteriorating condition, we have not been able to interview him regarding this assault,” says Acting Sgt. Lawrence Avery with EPS Northeast Division. “We have completed extensive door-to-door investigations with the neighbouring residences and businesses, and received some good witness information, but we need some additional information from the public regarding this tragic assault.”
EPS Northeast Division officers continue to investigate, and ask that anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspects to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm.
