Bradley Nordell, 42, has been charged with careless driving and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.
Background:
At approximately 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, a 73-year-old female had entered a marked crosswalk and was crossing the merge lane from the south to the north curb adjacent to the 95 Avenue and 170 Street intersection. A Toyota Tundra traveling eastbound on 95 Avenue turned right into the merge lane that connects to southbound 170 Street, and struck the female as she was crossing. EMS treated and transported the woman to hospital in serious condition. The woman succumbed to her injuries and passed away during the early morning hours of Sunday, June 1, 2014. The 42-year-old male driver of the truck did not report any injuries. The EPS Major Collision Investigation Unit was called in to investigate the fatal pedestrian collision. This was Edmonton’s third pedestrian fatality and 10th traffic fatality for 2014.
