Ahmed Osman, 34, turned himself into police Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, after an Edmonton Police Service (EPS) News Release with his name and charges was distributed to media on Friday, Oct. 27th.
On Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, during a vehicle stop, EPS Homicide detectives arrested Hamdi Abdi-Ahmed, 30, who was also wanted on a warrant for second-degree murder regarding Mohamed’s death.

EPS Homicide Section investigators continue to seek any information regarding the whereabouts of the third suspect, Abdullahi Are, 33, in connection to Ahmed Mohamed’s murder (see photo below), who still remains at large. Abdullahi Are is also wanted on a charge ofsecond-degree murder.

Background:
At approximately 4:45 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, Downtown Branch patrol officers responded to a weapons complaint at a suite near 103 Street and 106 Avenue. Upon arrival, EPS members found a 23-year-old male suffering from serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics treated and transported the male to hospital.
While at the suite, EPS officers were directed to a secondary scene, a convenience store, near 104 Street and 107 Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found Mohamed in the parking lot suffering from life-threatening gunshot injuries. He succumbed to his injuries on scene shortly thereafter. The Edmonton Medical Examiner confirmed that Ahmed Mohamed died from a gunshot wound, with the manner of death being homicide.
Wanted: Abdullahi Are, 33: second-degree murder.
