Major Collision officers investigating serious pedestrian collision

The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigation Section (MCIS) is investigating a serious hit-and-run collision which left a woman seriously injured. Yesterday, Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at approximately 6:15 p.m. police responded to the report of a collision in the area of 28 Avenue and Youville Drive W NW. It was reported to police that a female pedestrian in her 50s had been walking north across 28 Avenue in a marked crosswalk just east of Youville Drive, when she was struck by an older model Chevrolet Trailblazer described as being gold or tan travelling west on 28 Avenue. The woman was launched several meters after being struck and the Trailblazer subsequently fled north on Youville Drive without stopping.

Paramedics treated and transported the woman to hospital where she remains with serious injuries.
