The incident, which occurred Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, in the area of 43 Avenue and 33 Street, occurred between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
It was reported to police that the 11-year-old girl was walking home with her bicycle in the Fountain Lake neighbourhood, when she was pulled into a van by a suspect male and sexually assaulted. The suspect male then pushed the girl out of the vehicle after the assault, before fleeing the scene southbound on 34 Street past a 7-11 convenience store.
The suspect is described as a male between the ages of 25 and 35 years old, brown or tanned complexion, 5’9 or 5’10 tall with dark, prickly hair. He has a small patch of facial hair under his bottom lip (soul patch), and was wearing a black shirt, dark grey pants and white sneakers (possibly Nikes) at the time of the attack.
The suspect vehicle is described as a white van, which potentially has rear “barn style” doors, tinted windows and may have been parked on the north curb of 43 Avenue by the community lake.
The 11-year-old girl is currently receiving support from the Zebra Child Protection Centre.
EPS Child Protection detectives continue to investigate and are encouraging residents throughout the Fountain Lake/Larkspur area to check their home and business video cameras for possible images of the suspect vehicle driving in the area between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19th.
