The Edmonton Police Service is looking to speak with a teenager who was struck by a vehicle yesterday morning to confirm her safety and wellbeing. At approximately 8 a.m. yesterday, Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, a red Honda Civic was traveling westbound on 132 Avenue towards 127 Street when the driver observed a female pedestrian crossing the northbound lanes in a marked crosswalk. The driver reportedly applied their brakes but slid on the ice and struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian hit the vehicle’s bumper and hood, subsequently shattering the windshield before landing on the road.

The driver and other witnesses in the area rushed to assist the pedestrian, who is described as a Black female in her teens with black curly hair that was tied back in a ponytail or braid. She appeared to be under 5’0” tall and was wearing Airpods and dark clothing at the time. The pedestrian reportedly stated she was not injured and refused medical assistance when those on scene offered to call an ambulance.

A short time later, a yellow Cunningham Transport school bus stopped on the north curb of 132 Avenue, just east of 126 Street, and the pedestrian ran from the scene and boarded the bus. The driver involved in the collision made efforts to locate the pedestrian, but was unsuccessful, and reported the incident to police.
