On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., it was reported that two males entered a jewelry store in the Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre. Both suspects were armed with firearms and left the store with several thousand dollars in gold chains. The suspects fled the mall in a stolen gold coloured 2003 Lexus RX300 SUV, which was later recovered by police on an embankment in the area of Jasper Avenue and 92 Street. No injuries were reported during the robbery.
Robbery Section detectives recently identified and charged both suspects.
Neil Gladue, 42, is charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, pointing a firearm in the commission of an offence, possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, use of a firearm while committing an offence, possession of stolen property under $5000, possession of stolen property under $5000, possess prohibited firearm (x4) and breach condition of a release order.
Franklin Gladue, 45, is charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, pointing a firearm in the commission of an offence, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, use of a firearm while committing an offence, possess prohibited firearm (x2) and possession of stolen property over $5000.
EPS Robbery detectives believe the stolen jewelry may be for sale online and are warning citizens to be mindful if approached by individuals looking to sell gold chains. Detectives are asking anyone with information pertaining to the whereabouts of this jewelry to contact police. In addition, investigators are looking for anyone who may have information about the stolen Lexus SUV.
