Donny Nathan Meeches, 31, turned himself in to police early Friday morning, Nov. 26, 2021, following a media release notifying the public of a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.
Meeches has since been formally charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 31-year-old woman at a residence in northeast Edmonton on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021.

Background
At approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, Northeast Division officers were called to the report of an injured female at a residence in the area of 139 Avenue and 35 Street. Upon arrival, officers located the female and provided first aid; however, she succumbed to injuries at the scene.
An autopsy was completed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s office on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, and confirmed the 31-year-old woman’s death was a homicide. The cause of death continues to be withheld for investigative reasons. As the woman’s 11-year-old son was present at the time of her death, her name is being withheld to protect his privacy during this difficult time.
