Canada-wide warrant issued for arrest of suspect in July 2020 homicide

The Edmonton Police Service has issued a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of homicide suspect Ahmed Mursal Mohamed, 35, in connection to the death of 31-year-old Abdikhadar Aden in July 2020.

Mohamed is wanted for manslaughter.

He is described as a Black male with brown eyes and black hair. He is six feet tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds. Mohamed is known to frequent the Clareview area of Edmonton and may also use the name Mario.

Mohamed is considered dangerous and therefore should not be approached. Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the EPS directly at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Background
At approximately 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, West Division patrol officers responded to the report of an injured male at a motel in the area of 153 Street and 111 Avenue. Upon arrival officers located a male inside a suite suffering from life-threatening injuries. Abdikhadar Aden was treated and transported to hospital by EMS, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, July 25, 2020.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on Aden on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, and the manner of death was confirmed to be homicide. The cause of death is being withheld at this time for investigative reasons.

The investigation confirmed that Aden was involved in an altercation at this location prior to police attendance.
