Autopsy complete in west Edmonton death

An autopsy has been completed on 31-year-old Abdikhadar Aden who died after being found with life-threatening injuries in a west Edmonton motel suite last week.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on Aden yesterday morning, Tuesday, July 28, 2020. The manner of death has been confirmed to be homicide. The cause of death is being withheld at this time for investigative reasons.

Homicide Section continues to investigate.

Background

At approximately 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, West Division patrol officers responded to the report of an injured male at motel in the area of 153 Street and 111 Avenue. Upon arrival officers located a male inside a suite suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Abdikhadar Aden, 31, was treated and transported to hospital by EMS where he succumbed to his injuries on, Saturday, July 25, 2020.

The investigation confirmed that Aden was involved in an altercation at this location prior to police attendance.
