Autopsy complete in Gladue's death; police seek tips

The Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on 36-year-old Matthew Jordan Gladue this morning, Friday, Jul. 17, 2020. The cause of death has been confirmed to be homicide. The manner of death is being withheld at this time for investigative reasons.

“The investigation to this point has revealed that Gladue was involved in a violent altercation prior to his arrival at the scene where he was found by police,” says Acting Staff Sgt. Jared Buhler of the Homicide Section. “Where this altercation occurred, and how he got to the scene, are details investigators continue to seek.”

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may be aware of a violent altercation or disturbance that occurred between 6 and 7 p.m. on Monday, Jul. 13, 2020.

Background

Just before 7 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020, police responded to the report of an injured male in an alley between 103 and 104 Street, just north of 112 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located Gladue with life-threatening injuries. EMS treated and transported Gladueto hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators released Gladue’s name in advance of the autopsy to obtain more information on his last known whereabouts and associations.
