Southeast Division patrol officers responded to several 911 calls in connection to gunshots being heard in The Orchards at Ellerslie, a neighbourhood just south of Summerside, at approximately 7:35 p.m. this evening, Monday, Jan. 21, 2019.
Upon arrival, EMS paramedics were tending to a young male, who was lying on the street on Crabapple Crescent, with undisclosed injuries.
The young man was rushed to hospital by EMS personnel, where he was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to schedule an autopsy.
Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation. Southeast Division patrol members are currently conducting door-to-door interviews with residents in the area, in an attempt to locate any witnesses.
