A female robbery suspect barricaded in a northeast apartment was successfully taken into custody this evening, following a day-long standoff with police. The incident commenced after Northeast Division patrol officers responded to a residential robbery call at approximately 7 a.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, near 35 Street and 118 Avenue.
It was reported to police that a male complainant had allegedly been robbed at gunpoint in his residence. Officers subsequently located the suspects in a suite in the same building, and initiated communication with the occupants.
Four of the five occupants eventually left the suite and were interviewed by police Sunday afternoon. An armed female suspect remained in the suite, refusing to come out.
The suspect finally surrendered to police and was taken into custody safely and without incident at approximately 9:35 p.m. this evening, after successful negotiations with police.
Robbery and weapon-related charges are pending against Angela Valentino, 56. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
