Police seek public's assistance with suspicious death investigation

The Edmonton Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance regarding information surrounding the deceased male involved in Monday’s suspicious death.

At approximately 1:20 p.m. yesterday, Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, Southeast Division officers responded to the report of a deceased male found in the area of 92 Avenue and 77 Street.

 

The EPS Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation and has identified the deceased as Ruben (Ben) Baker, 21.

 

“We are hopeful someone may have information on where Mr. Baker was residing and where he had been prior to his discovery yesterday afternoon,” says Acting Staff Sergeant Darrin Gordon with the EPS Homicide Section.

 

An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018.

 

Police encourage anyone with information about this suspicious death to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm.

 

Every file is evaluated on a case by case basis. The EPS has decided to release the name of the deceased as it serves an investigative purpose.
