At approximately 3:30 p.m. today, Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, Northwest Division patrol officers were called to a McDonalds located at 10520 111 Avenue on the report of a disturbance.

Upon arrival, police located three bystanders holding a 19-year-old male suspect on the ground outside the restaurant. The suspect appeared to be intoxicated and had allegedly assaulted approximately eight people inside the restaurant unknown to him.

Police have spoken to three of the eight individuals believed to be implicated by the actions of the male suspect inside the restaurant. The other five individuals fled prior to police arrival and investigators are encouraging them to contact police.

“We’d like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident,” says Const. Douglas MacDougall with EPS’ Northwest Division.

“We also want to ensure that the individuals who had direct contact with the suspect, are doing well.”

EMS attended the scene, but paramedics were not required to treat and transport anyone to hospital.

The 19-year-old male is currently in police custody and charges are pending against him.

Northwest division officers continue to investigate.

Anyone who was confronted by the 19-year-old male, or was a witness to the incident, is encouraged to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm
