EPS Economic Crimes Section has charged an individual in relation to a lottery fraud, which spanned a whole year between September 2012 and September 2013.
Hassan Karim Choudhry, 31, a former store manager for a national convenience store chain, is charged with fraud over $5,000 for allegedly manipulating the store’s accounting system for lottery payouts that totalled $524,000.
“The accused was allegedly paying out non-existent lottery tickets to himself until the fraud was discovered and he was terminated from his job,” says Det. Jerry Sobchyshyn of Economic Crimes Section.
The employer reported the fraud to EPS in October 2013 and charges were laid this week.
