At approximately 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, Southwest Division officers responded to a report of an aggressive male at a residence in the area of 106 Street and 47 Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a male who was wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant for being unlawfully at large. He also appeared to be under the influence of either drugs or alcohol.
Police believe the male consumed a quantity of pills and threw the bottle from the balcony.
Shortly thereafter, the male appeared to be in medical distress and was placed in the recovery position. EMS treated and transported the male to hospital, where he died a short time later.
The EPS will not be providing further comment as the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has taken the lead in this investigation.
