The Edmonton Police Service is gathering evidence at three separate scenes in connection to a shooting that took place earlier this evening (Jul. 23, 2016).

At approximately 9 p.m., Northeast Division patrol officers responded to the report of shots fired in the area of 436 Brintnell Blvd. Upon arrival, officers located a male and female who had been shot.

Two black males were witnessed running from the area at the time and allegedly fled the scene in a minivan.

Shortly thereafter, officers located the minivan in the area of 129 Avenue and 69 Street where they attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The suspect vehicle refused to stop and shots were fired at officers from the vehicle.

At 130 Avenue and 88 Street two black males exited the minivan and fled the area on foot. Officers were able to track the suspects to a nearby field where they were apprehended. Police also located two firearms within close proximity to where the arrest took place.

Investigators believe the two black males taken into custody are the same two suspects that were involved in the shooting on Brintnell Blvd. Police are not looking for any additional suspects at this time.

The man and woman who sustained gunshot wounds remain in hospital. The male’s injuries are considered serious and the female’s injuries are non-life-threatening.

No officers were hurt during this incident. Investigators continue to canvas multiple scenes.
