An elderly man passed away in hospital on Monday after he was struck by a vehicle last week.
On Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015 at approximately 11:55 p.m., Downtown Division officers were called to 101 Street near 110A Avenue. It is reported that a Chevrolet Suburban travelling northbound struck a male pedestrian as he attempted to cross 101 Street eastbound.
The elderly man was treated and transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening at the time. The male driver of the Suburban did not report injuries.
On Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, the 84-year-old pedestrian died in hospital.
Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision. The investigation is still ongoing by the EPS Major Collision Investigation Unit. Charges have not been laid.
This is Edmonton’s 25th traffic fatality of 2015.
