Between February 2009 and May 2012, a 42-year-old woman is alleged to have perpetrated a fraudulent investment operation that showed unusually high returns to entice almost 50 investors.
There is no evidence that any of the funds were legitimately invested.
The investment total is believed to be just over 1.8 million dollars. Only a small amount has been recovered.
Carmelita Del Rosario has been criminally charged with two counts of fraud over $5000.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for April 30.
